Do you ever see a clean leather product with a nice accent and think how do I do that myself? Look no further, here are 5 of my favorite leather accessories to accent my leather projects with.
1. Plain Conchos
Plain conchos make a great accent to any piece of leather. They add a nice simple accent that doesn’t take away from the carved design. There are many different types and styles that you can pick and choose from. I like all the choices there are because there is a concho that compliments any leather piece you are working on.
2. Rhinestone Dots
Rhinestone dots are for the girls who like a little more bling to what she wears and makes. You can stick them onto anything and give your leather a nice sparkle. My favorite way to use rhinestone dots is to stick them onto a plain concho. It is fun to mix and match colors and personalize the concho with your own design.
Rivets are sometimes necessary to add to your leather work in order to hold different pieces together. Since you are already using them it is easy to use them to your advantage and find a way to work them into your design. It just adds a contrasted look and texture next to the leather.
Fringe is already a huge part of western culture, but I think it is a fun element to add to my own leather work. It takes something plain like a purse or breast collar and adds a fun dynamic. The key to making nice fringe is too keep your cuts the same width with clean consistent cuts.
5. Stitching & Lacing
When done correctly, a nice clean stitching can bring a whole piece together. The look of white stitching along a hand carved leather belt is as nice as it gets to me. Along those lines, lacing adds a similar feel to stitching but you have more of creative liberties with it. There are tons of ways to weave and lace leather together adding a simple but quality accent.
